Circus theater – Michael Zandl / Korzo After five years, we dare to call it a tradition: an evening or afternoon performance with a delicious three-course dinner, this time with the circus performance FOOD by Michael Zandl. What starts as a simple eating scene grows into a possessed, almost machine-like ritual. Slowly the boundaries between desire and necessity blur, until something grotesque, surprising and disturbingly hypnotic emerges. Using acrobatics and object manipulation, these witty circus makers build a confrontational body language product by product. A language that turns not only their own, but perhaps also your ideas about consumption habits upside down. Habits formed under the silent pressure of commercial persuasion. Michael Zandl developed this performance together with the performers of FOOD: Fidel Rott, Hedvig Brodén, Jakob Vöckler and Karin Brodén. “‘Food’ is unusual circus theater with everyday material, and with a message about food” “It is quite possible that I have already seen the best performance of the season... Sometimes what you see is cartoonish, sometimes an exciting circus act in a custom-made theater jacket, and sometimes outright body horror” “The actors – Rott and Vökler are not alone – also control their timing down to the last detail.” “FOOD could be summed up very simply as a crescendo of chaos. Great fun and some ingenious moments.” Michael Zandl (1989) is an Austrian circus artist and in-house creator of Korzo since 2020. Michael is interested in transcending the conventional circus idiom. He likes to work with objects from everyday life, which at first glance you would not expect from circus. Special effects, object manipulation and technical ingenuity are often the highlights of his performances. For this special theater evening, we will transform the downstairs hall into a theater restaurant again. Enjoy a festive vegetarian three-course dinner, provided
